An unfinished game belongs to its fitted board. You can remove that board, store the returned item and fit it again later in the same server world.
Put a game away
Section titled “Put a game away”The table owner or a server operator crouch-uses the fitted table with an empty main hand. This returns the saved board item and refunds its current item stakes.
Keep the returned board. A freshly crafted board is a new game, even if it is the same board type.
Continue later
Section titled “Continue later”Fit the saved board into a matching table in the same world. Its unfinished position is restored. Use the proper table size for that board.
The stored game needs both its board item and the world’s save. Back up the world, including its saved data. Moving the item to a different server world does not move the stored game with it.
One saved game, one restore
Section titled “One saved game, one restore”The board item carries a reference to a record kept by the server, rather than carrying the private hands directly. Fitting a valid saved board consumes that record. Copying the item does not create independent copies of its match; other items pointing at the consumed record cannot restore it again.
Missing or already-used records are refused without consuming the board item. Other saved games of the same type remain independent.
Record lifetime
Section titled “Record lifetime”There is no age-based cleanup of saved board records. An item stored in an unloaded chest can still be valid. Server operators have explicit maintenance commands if a record must be removed.
